Track Your Progress

How many calories did I burn?  How many steps did I walk?  What was my heart rate during that workout?  These are questions we all want answers to and to get your answers we suggest investing in a fitness tracker.  There are so many options on the market from Nike, to Apple, to FitBit and even designers such as Tory Burch are jumping on the fitness band wagon.  Below check out some of the ones we’ve used before and what we found worked best for what we needed.

1) Nike FuelBand

This was the first real “go-to” sleek looking tracker that hit the market big time. Nike had created this band as a fitness motivator where you would be able to gain your daily “fuel”  (movement + exertion) and meet your daily goals. This bracelet was great on battery life, synced right into your phone, and was slim enough to pass as a sleek bracelet watch. Was definitely a great purchase at the time that it was released!

2) Polar Heart Rate Monitor 

Each of us invested in a Polar watch when we became certified Mad Dogg Spin instructors.  The Polar watch we had at the time, hooked up to a heart rate monitor strap and pod you wore around your chest.  The signal would link up to the watch and you were able to see your calories and heart rate during your workout.  This was a great first investment, but as time went on we noticed the signal wouldn’t pick up and calories were lost.  Now Polar has upped their game with the look of each watch and the need to wear the strap.  The OrangeTheory Fitness workout bases their classes around heart rate ones very similar to polar, so if you’re interested in this type of push make sure to check out those classes!

3) FitBit Charge HR

Great product! The FitBit HR is a great calorie, step, distance and HR tracker. Highly recommended for those who are not looking to go all out a watch and are looking for their wireless HR without wearing a strap. The battery life of this tracker is amazing! It has lasted up to 5 days before needing to be charged again which is an awesome perk (especially for wearing it all day long!) They keep producing cool colors and wear very well with sweat, as they are water resistant. Who wouldn’t want that?!

4) Apple Watch Sport

This is our latest investment and boy do we love it! The AppleWatch is a one stop shop for fitness tracking, answering calls, texting, calendar agendas, the list goes on and on.  You can decide to put what apps you want on the watch.  In the workout section, you set the watch to what you’re doing at the time.  Some options are rowing, indoor cycling, outdoor running, and other for workouts like barre, SLT, yoga etc.  Apple is stylish and you can change the band to different colors (each band is $50).  The watch come in rose gold, gold, and silver.

One thing to keep in mind when making your purchase is that none of the watches are going to be 100% correct every single time.  We use our fitness trackers as gages, so we know how much we’ve burned that day, to see if we’ve worked more hard than the last time, and to see our heart rate zone.  So now that we’ve told you some of our favorites, are there any we missed that you have?
